CGIAR Fund

CRP1.1: Dryland Systems

This program aims to improve food security for the rural poor, protect the natural resource base, and empower small-scale farmers and pastoralists in dry areas, which are home to 2.5 billion people and where poverty, hunger, and environmental degradation are widespread. Researchers will pursue new technological, institutional, and policy options for enhancing productivity and managing risks through diversification, sustainable intensification, and integrated agro-ecosystem approaches. The program will also study and test technologies that have the potential to be scaled-up to help cope with climate change.
